Evidence-based integrative psychotherapy for adults and young adults

Individual Therapy

Personalized & collaborative care

Individual psychotherapy for adults 18+. Dr. Brackman's approach is active and collaborative, and treatment approach is tailored to each individual client's goals and presentation. Individual therapy at Sidewalk Psychology prioritizes helping clients deepen insight, strengthen their relationships, and create meaningful concrete behavioral changes.

Clients of individual therapy at Sidewalk Psychology are high-achieving ambitious people who often feel stuck, burnt out, and overwhelmed by life. Frequently, clients present to the practice with prior therapy experience and a good deal of self-awareness, yet  continue to grapple with the lingering effects of trauma from early life and seek answers to existential questions about their meaning and purpose.

Dr. Brackman's work draws from second and third-wave cognitive behavioral therapies, attachment, and existential therapy approaches to help individuals overcome obstacles to a sense of fulfillment and authenticity in themselves and their relationships.

Trauma Services

Expert treatment and evaluation for PTSD and cPTSD

Sidewalk Psychology offers trauma therapy and diagnostic evaluation for adults. The overarching approach to trauma treatment at Sidewalk Psychology is rooted in Dr. Judith Herman's 3-stages of trauma recovery model. To treatment trauma effectively,  Dr. Brackman always focuses on creating safety and stabilization, which often focuses on emotional and coping skills appropriate to each client's unique symptoms and needs.

The next phase of treatment, if appropriate, involves more direct trauma processing either via exposure therapy or narrative processing. Specific symptoms such as nightmares and insomnia may be treated with adjunctive evidence-based protocols based in cognitive-behavioral therapy methods.

Sidewalk Psychology also specializes in the treatment of complex PTSD in survivors of childhood abuse, and treatment may incorporate elements of Skills Training in Affective and Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR), Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Couples Therapy

De-escalate conflict & strengthen attachments

Conflict, disconnection, and misunderstanding are common experiences in romantic partnerships. Couples therapy at Sidewalk Psychology is best suited for those navigating major transitions, looking to improve their communication, and managing the impact of PTSD on their bond.

Dr. Brackman has advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples -- a practical research-backed approach rooted in attachment science. She will help you identify unhealthy patterns and dialogues and work to create safety, deepen connection, and enhance authenticity in your relationship.
